Class Description
Rise has four classrooms with up to 10 children each, ages 12
months to 6 years. There are part time schedules for the younger
children while the older children attend five days a week.
Children without needs may also attend on a part-time basis.
Currently 40% of the children do not have disabilities. Children
are enrolled in classes based on chronological age and needs.
Each classroom has a lead teacher and two instructional teacher
assistants. The student/teacher ratio is 3:1. Every teacher
has either a Masters degree, is in process of earning a masters
degree or equivalent experience and Rise training.
During a typical day, each child follows a schedule that includes
individual activities, group activities, gross motor play both
indoor and outdoor, therapeutic services as indicated, lunch
and rest time. The school day is individualized as much as possible
so that the day can include as many learning opportunities as
possible. The instructional theme for the week, including the
book of the week, is posted at the classroom door.
Rise offers a number of services to children that may include
occupational, physical, speech and music therapies using a collaborative/consultative
service delivery model. Services are delivered through an integrated
therapy approach in which the therapeutic activities are provided
routinely by the teachers and instructional teacher assistants
with ongoing input and training from the therapists. The therapeutic
activities are integrated into the daily routine of each classroom,
which provides for an efficient and regular delivery.
Rise School is licensed by the Child Care Division of the State
of Colorado. The Rise School also functions as an instructional
program of a local university.
